When I chose the San Francisco Marathon as a way to celebrate a milestone birthday, I knew my work was cut out for me. This would be my first marathon and I had limited time to train. Once committed to the endeavor, I set priorities to make the most of the time I did have for preparation. New shoes, run schedule and cross train workouts seemed to be the easy part. A big area that friends whom are experienced marathoners kept discussing was nutrition. What was I going to do for nutrition during my run? Figured an easy route to get this question answered was talk to the experts at my local running stores. I quickly found out that everyone has an opinion and there is a myriad of products on the market to choose from. I decided that I would research various products as to make an informed decision but quickly found this to be overwhelming and time was short.
Heading out on a run one morning, I knew I would need something to eat along the way. All I had was one of Natures Bakery Fig Bars, so in it went. It turned out to be the perfect nutrition for my run. So I used one for the next run and the run after that, all while continuing to research for the perfect nutritional supplement. Next thing I know, a few weeks have gone by and all I’ve used is Natures Bakery Fig Bars. It finally hit me that I no longer needed to research for the perfect product, I had been using it the entire time without knowing. They are small enough to fit in a water bottle pouch or short pockets. They are easy to eat and never upset my stomach like other products can. Even a small bite takes the edge off the hunger during long training runs.
Only 8 weeks to train, 170 miles in training runs, 26.2 mile marathon, fueled exclusively by Natures Bakery Fig Bars. They got me across the finish line of the San Francisco Marathon they day before turning 50. Whatever your endeavor, they can get you across the finish line as well.
