Winning isn’t easy. If it were, everyone would be doing it. And by winning, I don’t mean winning a contest, or prize. I mean winning at life. To win at life you have to succeed and have little victories that add up to great success. And in order to succeed, you first have to START!
I can’t tell you how often I hear the endless list of reasons why people haven't started their new diet or workout routine. Don’t get me wrong, there have been times when I’ve felt the same way! There will be bad days, and good days, wins and losses. But eventually, you’ll wake up one morning and realize that your life is better than it used to be. And you don’t have to be perfect to get there.
Being a mom, athlete, nurse, and entrepreneur, I have no time for perfection. I’m guessing you don’t either. When you get too focused on being perfect, you lose sight of the long term goals. I attribute my success largely to focus, balance, and doing the best I can. Toss the “all or nothing” mentality, and don’t let a little imperfection slow you down.
It’s exciting (and rare) when I have a “perfect” day. Life seems to always get in the way. Babysitters cancel, kids get sick, the hospital is short staffed, or I’m too tired to get in that double cardio. I never dwell on the things I didn’t get done. I have found with many of the clients I coach, as well as with myself, that if you can find a balance, and incorporate most of your plan into your lifestyle, you will see results.
Seeing the benefits of your hard work and healthy habits is very rewarding. True Success is measured in the mistakes you’ve learned from, the battles you’ve fought, and your ability to still come out swinging. Today is the perfect time to start. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Today! Making healthy nutritional choices, and living a healthy lifestyle will change your entire life for the better. What are you waiting for?
