Local, family-owned all natural snack foods company Nature’s Bakery has donated 2,000 Fig Bars to The Discovery to give out to children during the event.
The Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars, which come in a variety of flavors including blueberry, peach apricot, apple cinnamon and more, are a healthy and natural alternative to sugar-filled processed candy that children normally receive as a treat during the Halloween tradition of trick or treating.
“We are happy to partner with and support The Discovery in providing an all natural snack for children who attend the museum’s trick or treat event,” said Andrew Strolin, Director of Marketing for Nature’s Bakery. “Our fig bars are made with stone ground whole wheat and sweetened with dried cane syrup, not high fructose corn syrup. They have no transfat, are cholesterol free, dairy free, vegan, Kosher and most importantly taste great.”
The Discovery will open its doors to museum members at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, for the trick or treat event. General admission begins at 6:30 p.m. and the event ends at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $2.

“Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars are a treat I don’t mind my children snacking on,” said Liz Lyles, a mother of two children and a Nature’s Bakery sponsored triathlete. “The Fig Bars are a great, all-natural alternative to processed fruit snacks that have a lot of sugar. The Fig Bars are a great option for me while training, easy to eat while biking or in between workouts, but they’re also good for my kids and they taste great.”
