Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars – A Kosher Certified Product

Hello. It’s Andrew again, Director of Marketing for Nature’s Bakery. Today’s topic originates from one of the inquiries that we received on our Nature’s Bakery Website regarding the term “Kosher”.  I thought this would be a great opportunity to address “Kosher” and the commonly asked questions surrounding it, such as:

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines “Kosher” as:

1. a: sanctioned by Jewish law; especially : ritually fit for use <kosher meat> b : selling or serving food ritually fit according to Jewish law <a kosher restaurant>

2. a: being proper, acceptable, or satisfactory <is the deal kosher?>

In the context of this post, we’re going with the term Kosher in it’s relation to selling or serving food that is ritually fit according to Jewish law. Let’s start with the first question.

Are Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars Kosher?

Yes. Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars are a Kosher Certified Product.

Who is your Kosher Certifying Organization?

Nature’s Bakery fig bars are Kosher Certified by the Orthodox Union, or OU for short. Though they are not the only Kosher Certifying Organization in the business, the Orthodox Union is “the world’s largest and most widely recognized kosher certification agency, certifying more than 500,000 products produced in over 6,000 plants located in 80 countries around the world”, according to their website.

They are one of the strictest and most trusted Kosher Certifying Organizations in the world. Many major brands such as Best Foods, Coca Cola, General Mills, H.J. Heinz, Hershey’s and Kraft/Nabisco invest a significant amount of money and trust in the OU to certify their products.

What Does the OU Kosher Certification it Look Like?

The OU Kosher Certification symbol looks like an “O” with a “U” in it.

Where Can I Find the Kosher Certification on Nature’s Bakery packaging?

You can find the OU Kosher Certification symbol on all of our Twin Packs, located next to the UPC code on the back of the wrapper to the right of the copy.  See Below example.

What does the term Kosher mean to Nature’s Bakery customers?

We care very much about the quality of our products, which is why we voluntarily subject ourselves to the review and scrutiny by a third party organization. Every month, a certified OU Rabbi randomly inspects our facilities, processes, ingredients, and equipment to insure that we continue to meet the highest level of standards. The coveted certified kosher symbol that we’ve earned is extra assurance for our customers that we’re using best practices to deliver you a quality all natural snack foods produced under strict guidelines.
